Two flat planks slot together into a cross to make the base, and a round top sits on it. That is the whole design, and it suits fast casual well: light to move, nothing to unscrew, and no column-and-plate base for staff to trip over.
The finish shown is a pale maple-tone veneer with the layered plywood edge left visible as a detail on both the top and the base planks.
Construction. Veneered birch plywood top and base planks, clear matt lacquer; the planks interlock through a half-lap slot and fix to the top with a steel mounting plate; felt or plastic glides under each foot.
Cleaning. The lacquer takes a daily sanitizer wipe. The four flat feet are easy to mop around.
Replacement cost. Top and base are separate, so a stained top is replaced without the base.
Where it works. Cafes, bakery counters, juice bars and small fast casual units where two or three chairs gather around a small round table.
Options. Top diameter, height (dining or counter), veneer species or laminate top. Pair with any chair in this collection.
